PSJA Memorial ECHS Recognized with Purple Star Campus Designation for Two Years

ALAMO– Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD’s PSJA Memorial Early College High School has received a Purple Star Campus Designation for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years, recognizing the school’s outstanding efforts to support the unique needs of military-connected students and their families.

“Being selected as a Purple Star Campus is more than an honor — it represents the care and dedication our staff demonstrate each day to help students thrive both in and out of the classroom,” said PSJA Memorial ECHS Principal Dr. Raquel Garcia. “This recognition reaffirms our commitment to making every military-connected student feel welcomed, valued, and part of our PSJA family.”

The Purple Star Campus Designation, awarded by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), celebrates schools that go above and beyond in creating an inclusive environment where military-connected students feel welcomed, supported, and prepared to thrive academically and socially.

To qualify, campuses must meet rigorous requirements, including:

  • Designating a campus-based military liaison

  • Creating and maintaining a resource webpage for military-connected families

  • Implementing a campus transition program

  • Providing staff development on issues relevant to military-connected students

  • Offering at least one additional initiative, such as passing a resolution of support for military families or hosting activities like Month of the Military Child

“We are proud of PSJA Memorial ECHS for earning this distinguished honor,” said PSJA Superintendent Dr. Alejandro Elias. “Their dedication reflects our district’s mission to serve every student with excellence and to recognize the sacrifices of our military families.”
